Things I am Loving This Fashion Season
It is such fun to observe what people in the fashion world are wearing.
While I love seeing the new collection round-ups from top shelf couture designers, sometimes it feels out of reach. I find it is the little details in what you wear that can make all the difference. And, if you can be creative with what you already have in your closet, you will definitely be stylish.
Here are some things I have noticed while scrolling through fashion pages lately and here is how I plan to implement them in my daily wardrobe this winter season.
#1. Short Faux Fur Jackets
The faux fur look has been popular and what I love is how authentic they can look. There are many different price points so depending on your budget, the goal is to find one that is cropped.
They look amazing with dress pants or a long dress. This jacket transitions well from day to night. The fluffier the better!
#2. Yellow
This color has been big this past fall but as we approach spring, runways are full of soft pastels with this buttery hue leading the way. Anything will work, a small handbag, sweater or even a pair of gloves! Think butter and all things creamy.
#3. Belts with Blazers
I noticed this trend a few months ago and it is very mainstream now. But the key thing is the belt has to be thin. What a great addition to your classic black blazer! I know you have one of those and I'll bet you have a skinny belt in your closet too!
#4. Not Just Any Scarf
Scarves. Not just any scarf, but a big scarf that you fold in half lengthwise and loop around your neck. Then you throw one side over one shoulder.
Done and Done!
#5. Long Gloves
They are back! I have one coat with a 3/4 length sleeve and have always worn a long pair of gloves with it. I always feel so retro when I wear that combo. How lovely that long gloves are back not only with outerwear but also with blazers. Especially the oversized kind where you push up the sleeves. 90's with a twist!
#6. Brooches
Yes, brooches. But the difference is that fashion girls are using brooches to accessorize the scarf I mentioned before. Big, small or even multiples creates a beautiful detail that is tre chic!
#7. Capelets - An Updated Shrug
There was a time in the not so distant past that women always wore a shrug when going out for dinner or to a party. The capelet does essentially the same thing but has an Audrey Hepburn kind of vibe. Shaped and stylish for sure.
#8. Pillbox
I saved this one for last because I am pretty sure you may not have one of these in your closet. However, this hat trend may pick up some traction especially during wedding season!
