What Exactly is Resort Core?

Always on the look out for a new trend, I recently started seeing the term "Resort core" and I decided to take a closer look.

You are probably familiar with the term "Cottage Core" as it pertains to a certain feel in home decor living spaces and there are many other ascetics in the fashion world too like Grandmother Core just to name one. 

But Resort Core is a little different. In its simplistic form, it is a collecting of items and experiences that remind us to prolong travel and atmosphere as it relates to our home.

It is a returning to a version of yourself that feels inspired and open. 

Imagine one of your best trips--the hotel caters to all your needs and you are left feeling totally cared for, relaxed and happy. Resort Core is a lifestyle that is inspired by the beauty of a luxury resort, summer moments and weekend escapes. 

And hotels are jumping on the Resort Core trend. Gift shops sell branded bags, candles, towels, locally made items like scarves--these can all be used in a home setting or worn once you are back from your holiday. And the effect allows us to prolong our experience with that time away. 

The converging of travel, fashion, home design and personal branding are becoming more common and experts say this trend will continue to grow. 

So, how can you bring Resort Core into your home?

Take a good look at your travel purchases from the past. Chances are you have some collectibles, bags, towels that remind you of that trip. Splash them around your home. Shells in a bowl on the front hall table. A basket filled with resort like towels for around the pool. Local art pinned casually on a wall. 

Displaying artwork, shells, summer napkins help to create that Resort Core feel at home.
